Springtime Chic Hairstyles

Spring is in the air! Therefore, it’s time for stylistas to update those cold weather looks, infusing the season’s charm and flirty sense of fun! Whether it’s a new cut, style or a way to switch up your day-to-day look without stressing your tresses, Celebrity hairstylist, Amoy Pitters, a New York beauty industry veteran that has styled the locks of such superstars as Naomi Campbell and Rihanna with an unparalleled skill set and signature styles, shares her hot tips on how to stand out this spring.

BANG, BANG!

Mischa Barton

No matter the style – ponytail, chignon, even tousled waves! – bangs always add an alluring sense of refinement with a touch of sexy edginess. Blunt bangs can fuse a sultry modern look to classic styles, while side-swept, layered bangs add a touch of romance to any look. Ready to make a statement? Try choppy bangs!

SIDE SWEPT

Sandra Bullock

A touch of fairy tale pretty meets bohemian chic in this spring-perfect look— a celeb-favorite, Amoy perfected this look during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City (at far right). Here are Amoy’s four easy-to-do steps to re-creating the style: Start by applying the volumizing mousse from root to end to achieve texture. Working on dry hair, use a 1-2” curling iron to create soft waves throughout the crown. Next, using a comb, brush back the hair at the root, sweeping the hair to one side and creating a long braid. Continue to comb the braid back to create loose flyaway’s for a soft, renaissance look. Once you’ve applied makeup and chosen an outfit, apply the look’s final touches by spraying a light layer of holding spray to secure any loose hairs.

TRANSFORM YOUR LOOK IN SECONDS

Want an easy way to makeover your day-to-day look? Clip-on extensions will give you instant length and volume, transforming your look from safe to siren. Amoy’s upcoming line of hair products, Amoy Couture Hair – currently used exclusively at her New York City salon of the same name – is set to feature Amoy Couture Hair Clip-On Extensions that are 100% human hair, can be customized to any fit or style and instantly transform your look. Clip-On Extensions can add volume, length, even highlights! The chic hair accessory is perfect for switching up your style without coloring or cutting your hair. If you want to change the texture, a full set of extensions can help you achieve your style without chemically treating your tresses.

LESS IS MORE

When it comes to hair accessories, simpler is always chicer! Your hair is the ultimate accessory, and when healthy and full of life, there is no need for an over-the-top, oversized headband or clip— let your natural beauty shine through! Want just a touch of sparkle for an evening fête? Try a neatly adorned pin.

About Amoy Pitters

A New York beauty industry veteran, Amoy Pitters has a passion – and natural talent – for the worlds of hair, beauty and fashion since starting her career. Mentored by industry icon, Odile Gilbert – and featured in the famed work Her Style – Amoy launched her impressive career as a sought-after hair stylist in the fashion industry, booking her career-first fashion show in Paris, styling the locks of the runway models for the Christian Dior couture collection in January 1998. There, recognizing her unique skill set, Amoy was asked by the show’s production team to style the house’s legendary designer John Galliano’s own hair for his final bow. Soon after, Galliano himself began requesting Amoy as his personal hairstylist. Fashion maven Donatella Versace was next in line, after taking notice of Galliano’s newly styled locks. From there, Amoy was in-demand worldwide, styling hair for editorials and fashion shows, and transforming the looks of supermodels, Hollywood starlets, iconic fashion designers, Grammy award-wining musicians and, of course, Amoy’s everyday clients at her modest East Village salon in New York City. Today, her impressive clientele includes: Alicia Keys, Kerry Washington, Mary J. Blige, Joy Bryant, Selita Ebanks and Maggie Rizer.
